Law, artificial intelligence and access to justice

I am an Assistant Professor in Law & AI at Maastricht University’s Maastricht Law and Tech Lab. I combine legal analysis with empirical and qualitative research into large legal corpora, using computational methods to understand legal reasoning and improve access to justice.

I earned my doctorate at Université de Montréal, where I developed JusticeBot, a platform that uses AI to help people understand their legal rights and has been used over 50,000 times. My work connects the analysis of legal decisions with the development and evaluation of practical tools. My collaborative work received Best Paper Awards at JURIX in 2020 and 2023, and my work has been featured in the Financial Times. I am the program chair for JURIX 2026.
